The following shall apply to all ‘Lofoten Islands Photo Tours’ bookings and will form the basis of your contract with Leif Petersen Photography (LPP).


Reservations require a Cdn. $750 deposit, which is non-refundable unless we cancel the tour due to lack of participants.  You will receive an email confirming your reservation and acknowledging receipt of your deposit.  You will also receive an invoice for the balance due.  If you do not receive a confirmation email, contact us immediately at

We are unable to accept bookings from persons under 18 years of age.


Please do not book your flights until we confirm that the tour will proceed, based on securing a minimum number of participants.  You will be informed immediately once the minimum has been met so that you can make your travel arrangements.  We will not be held financially liable should you book your flights prior to receiving confirmation that the tour will proceed or that it has been cancelled.  If the tour is cancelled, for any reason, your deposit will be refunded.

We have arranged with Oshawa Travel Limited to book all international and domestic flight reservations.  International flights will originate at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport, with a minimum of 1 stopover at a European airport, enroute to Oslo.  Booking your flights through Oshawa Travel Limited will ensure proper coordination of ongoing travel within Norway and return.

Since flight costs are not included in the tour fee, you are free to make your travel arrangements elsewhere; however, we will not be held financially liable for any delays caused by your air carrier resulting in you missing any portion of the tour.  We will provide you with all travel details in order for you to coordinate ongoing in-country travel and we will do our best to accommodate you to ensure that you meet up with the tour group ASAP.


A non-refundable Cdn. $750 deposit is required at time of booking.  While we prefer to accept payment by bank e-transfer, cheques or money orders are acceptable.  Please make all cheques and money orders payable to Leif Petersen.

The balance of the fee is due on or before the date shown on the Registration Form.  If we do not receive the balance by the due date, we reserve the right to treat the reservation as cancelled and fill your spot with another participant.

If you are booking within 45 days of the tour start date, full payment is due, at time of booking, unless otherwise specified.

Fees are based on double occupancy in Oslo hotels.  Single rooms may be provided upon request, when available, but will require a single-supplement fee.  For participants traveling alone but wishing to share a room, we will try to arrange for a roommate.  If a roommate is not available, the single supplement will be charged.

Tour fees include:  All lodging in Oslo and Stamsund per the itinerary, groceries for the Stamsund efficiency cabins, rail transportation between Gardermoen Airport and the Oslo city centre hotel, Hurtigruten tickets, ground transportation while in the Lofoten Islands and entrance fees per the itinerary.

Tour fees do not include:  International and domestic airfares, transportation to and from your departure airport, medical and travel insurance, Hurtigruten and restaurant meals, passport fees, airport taxes, gratuities, alcoholic beverages, phone calls, entry fees other than those detailed in the itinerary or other incidentals of a personal nature.


If you cancel:  If you wish to cancel your booking, please do so in writing; email is acceptable.  The date the cancellation notice is received will determine the extent of the refund.

Cancellations received 45 days or more prior to departure will be subject to a $750 per person cancellation fee; 44-31 days prior the cancellation fee is $1,500 per person; within 30 days, 100% of the tour cost is non-refundable.  If, at the time of your cancellation, we have a waiting list and are able to make a confirmed booking, the cancellation fee will be $500.  We will do our best to endeavour to fill your spot.

This policy applies only to payments made to LPP.  Airline tickets or other travel arrangements that are not included in the tour fee that you have purchased separately often carry penalties for cancellation or change, or may be non-refundable.  Additionally, the cost of trip and medical insurance is often not refundable, so speak to Oshawa Travel or your travel agent regarding insurance options and refund policies.

Bookings are non-transferrable between participants and photo tours.

If we cancel:  We reserve the right to cancel the tour prior to the departure date for any reason, including insufficient enrolment. We will make every effort to notify you at least 30 days prior to the departure date.  In the event of cancellation by LPP, all deposits and fees paid to us will be refunded in full, which will constitute the full settlement.  Our liability is limited to the amount of money you have paid to us.  We are not responsible for refunding costs incurred by you including, but not limited to, non-refundable airfare or any costs separate from the tour fee.  For this reason, we encourage all participants to purchase refundable airline tickets and trip cancellation insurance and to purchase their tickets ONLY after they have received confirmation that the tour will continue.  LPP is not required to make refunds after the tour has commenced, regardless of the reason for the participant being unable to complete the tour.

We reserve the right to cancel the tour in regards to natural disasters, political instability or any other circumstances that may directly affect the safety of the participants, in the tour locations.

For all refunds where the original payment was made through e-transfer, they will be returned to you, minus any fees that the financial institution has kept from the original transaction.

Other:  There shall be no refund for weather delay or cancellation because of weather before arrival or during the scheduled photo tour.  LPP is not responsible for any additional costs that may be incurred by weather delays or cancellations due to weather, flight delays or otherwise.  To protect yourself against unforeseen scenarios that may arise, speak with Oshawa Travel or your travel agent about purchasing trip insurance.


We will attempt to stay true to the itinerary; however, conditions out of our control may result in changes.  We reserve the right to alter the time, content or format of the tour in the event that circumstances require it.  We will do our absolute best to notify participants of changes as far in advance as possible.

Changes to the itinerary may occur prior to the tour or as we travel.  We reserve the right to make changes if, in our professional opinion, it will benefit the tour and its participants by providing alternative photographic conditions or opportunities.  No refunds will be given for services that are not utilized as a result.  As much as possible, any major changes to the itinerary will be advised in the final tour details, which will be sent on receipt of the final balance.  A change in the order that locations are visited is not considered a major change.  Should a major change of itinerary or schedule be forced upon us, while the tour is in progress (for example due to strikes, weather delay or breakdown), any additional costs are the responsibility of the participant.

All participants must agree to comply with the decisions made by the tour leader at all times.


All participants are responsible for, and must be in possession of, a full passport valid for at least six months beyond the end of the tour.


Oslo:  Accommodations will be in airport and city centre hotels, per the itinerary.  If you are single, but want to share a room, every effort will be made to find someone of the same sex for you to share with; if this is not possible, the single supplement fee will be applicable.

Stamsund:  Accommodations will be in historic fishermen’s cabins, or ‘rorbuer’, located in the harbour.  These are very clean and have all amenities:  shared bathrooms with showers, laundry facility, cooking and refrigeration, shared and single bedrooms (single supplement is not applicable).  A grocery store and restaurants/pubs are available within easy walking distance. Most cabins have bedrooms on the 2nd floor.  Wi-fi may be available, but not guaranteed.


We strongly encourage you to purchase trip and medical insurance to cover circumstances that may cause travel difficulties or losses you may incur, for which LPP is not responsible.  Insurance should ensure that the necessary protection is provided against loss of deposit and medical costs, which can be very high should you become ill during the tour.  Please note that travel insurance rarely provides sufficient coverage for expensive photography equipment; therefore, we recommend that you add this to your home insurance policy prior to departure.


In order to follow the tour itinerary, participants must be able to complete moderate walks/hikes with their photo gear, sometimes on rocky, uneven or slippery surfaces and on ocean shorelines.  All participants are required to be in general good health, able to handle their own luggage and photography equipment at all times.  It is each participant’s responsibility to properly inform LPP of any medical problems, physical limitations or dietary restrictions when registering.  We may not be able to cater to special dietary restrictions and we suggest you bring any necessary food and supplements that may not be available in northern Norway.  Please discuss your needs before registering.  LPP assumes no responsibility for providing medical or dietary expertise to tour participants.

Participants can opt to remain at the cabin for a partial or full day’s rest.  There are great photo ops close to the cabins, or within easy walking distance of them, so you will never have a wasted day.  We will do our best to make this tour work for you.


LPP takes the greatest care to ensure that the information presented on our website and the materials we distribute are accurate; however, mistakes can occur.  Unless the error or omission has a major effect on the tour to the extent that the photo opportunities are drastically altered, no claim for compensation can be entertained.


LPP will take all reasonable steps to ensure that all services provided are of an acceptable standard.  We cannot, however, accept liability for death, physical injury, illness, loss, damage or expense resulting from any event whatsoever beyond our control, including loss of, or damage to, valuables and photography equipment.

LPP acts only as an assistant/consultant for the passenger in regard to travel, whether by railroad, vehicle, boat, airplane, or other means, and assumes no liability for injury, damage, loss, accident, delay, or irregularity caused by defect in such vehicles or for any reason whatsoever, including the acts, defaults, or bankruptcies of any company or person engaged in conveying the passenger or in carrying out the arrangements of the tour.

LPP accepts no responsibility for losses or additional expenses due to delay or changes in air or other services, sickness, weather, strike, war, quarantine or other causes. The tour participant shall bear all such losses and expenses.  Personal items and baggage are the participant’s responsibility at all times.  In addition, responsibility must be accepted for any photography equipment loaned.

We will not ask for, or keep, information about participants, unless agreed by both parties, other than is necessary to process orders, process refunds and provide information about our tours.  We will not disseminate personal information about participants to any third party.  We will comply with any participant’s request to discard their email address, mailing addresses or telephone numbers by email to

Receipt of your deposit and these signed documents shall be deemed to be consent to all terms and conditions contained in this ‘Information and Terms of Agreement’ document.  All forms must be submitted at time of registration.

In the event that any one or more of the provisions of this agreement shall be held to be invalid, illegal, unenforceable or in conflict with Canadian law, the remaining portions will not be invalidated and shall remain in full force and effect.


Leif Petersen Photography, its agents, servants, employees, contractors past, present and future shall have no responsibility or liability, including financial, for personal injury to any participant, damage to any participant’s property, or wrongful death of any participant or for personal injuries, damage to the property or wrongful death of any other person resulting from the participant’s involvement in the Lofoten Islands Photo Tours.  Leif Petersen Photography shall have no responsibility for the acts, errors or omissions of instructors or staff, transportation companies, lodging facilities, restaurants, tour guides, contractors and outfitters, or other providers of services to participants, in the course of the tour.


In consideration of Leif Petersen Photography accepting my application, I hereby release and forever discharge Leif Petersen, his family members, agents, servants, employees, contractors, past, present and future, from any and all claims and causes of action and liability whatsoever, including personal injury, property damage or wrongful death occurring to me, arising as a result of my participation in the Lofoten Islands Photo Tours, and I declare that this release is binding upon me, my heirs, administrators and assigns.
