On Thursday, November 22, I will travel to Shanghai, China with 2 of my associates from the Ontario Council of Camera Clubs (O3C): Bharat Mistry, President and Harvey Rogers, Past President. I am the Vice President of the O3C.
Through the Toronto based Jiahua Elite Photography Association (JEPA), we are honoured to have been invited by the Shanghai Art and Design Academy to judge over 460+ digital images, which have been entered in the ‘1st International Image Arts Exhibition of Intangible Cultural Heritage and Forum’. Besides judging these photographs, which are on the topic of cultures around the world, we will take part in this 2-day event by making presentations and enjoying a tour of the Shanghai Art and Design Academy.
A 15 hour flight is not for the faint of heart, but this will be an excellent relationship building and exposure opportunity for the O3C.
Before returning on November 30th, we will have 3 days to enjoy the sights and sounds of Shanghai and area. We’ll be exposed to countless cultural photo opportunities.
I have been in Shanghai twice before: first when I was the Vice President for Detroit Diesel Corporation responsible for sales and service in their international market; and then when Bonnie and I were in China for 2 months, in 2011. We spent 1 month traveling and 1 month teaching English at a school in Yantai. I look forward to going back.
