Day 6: October 6 – St. Neots

Pictures can be viewed larger….just click on them

The weather has been perfect, since we arrived, but this morning we woke to a rainy, cool day.  We’re all feeling quite crappy, so this will be a good day to stay inside, sitting in the conservatory.

Randi went out for a walk and found the church she wants to attend tomorrow morning:  The Parish Church of St. Mary the Virgin, a late 15th century church.  I’ll likely walk over with her to check out the photo ops.

We’ve seen several sculls go by on the River Ouze, there’s a blue heron that’s come and gone several times on the other side of the river and the swans are constantly drifting by or flying in and out.  People are constantly walking their dogs, scaring the heron away, and lots of joggers.  It’s quite pleasant here and even though we’re in the middle of the town, we can’t see any traffic from here.

Mike and I went out for dinner tonight to a Turkish restaurant down the street, The Bosphorus.  We had an excellent meal and great conversation.  We don’t get to do that very often, so it was good, just the 2 of us.  After dinner, we took the short walk to the St. Mary’s church.  Bonnie and Randi stayed in and watched a couple of movies on Netflix.

10:30 PM now and time for bed.

I’m enjoying your photos Leif. We just got back from a12 day trip to the west coast. We spent 3 days in Vancouver, visiting the 3 places where we used to live, Stanley Park & Whistler. Also met my second cousins for lunch. Then we took a 7 day cruise to Alaska. Unfortuneatly it rained almost every day! But we saw the Mendenhall glacier,in Juneau, took a train rides to White Pass in the mountains,at Skagway, & saw totem poles in Ketichan. On the plane on the way home, I started sneezing, so I now have a Doozy of a cold!

This is Thanksgiving weekend, so the boys have arrived & my brother & his girlfriend will arrive on Monday for a turkey dinner.

Say Hi to Bonnie for me.
