Day 5: October 5 – Ninfield > St. Neots, Cambridgeshire

Pictures can be viewed larger….just click on them

Our stay at The Byre is over.

This morning we drove to St. Neots, where we’ll stay at a home we booked through Homeaway, at 20 River Terrace, a 3-storey townhouse on the River Ouse.  We have 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, a living room on the 2nd floor overlooking the river and the park on the other shore.  On the main floor, there’s a large kitchen complete with clothes washer and dryer and just off that is a glassed-in conservatory looking out to the patio right on the River Ouse.  It’s a great place for us for the next 10 nights.

Shortly after arriving in England, Randi started to get a sore throat, which developed into a full cold.  Now Bonnie and I have it and feeling miserable.  No doubt this will be with us for a few days, but I sure hope it’s gone by Tuesday, when we go to Cambridge to meet Izzy and Maddy.

We unpacked then went out to the Waitrose grocery store to pick up a few essentials and to the Boots pharmacy for some cold medication.  Back in the house, we cooled our heels for a while before Mike picked us up to go to their house for pizza.  We were back here by 7:30 and in bed about 9:30.

How wonderful that the Petersens and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have congregated in Sussex at this time of the year.
I am loving the pictures of you and your family enjoying so many beautiful sights and at such a great time for fall colours. I do hope that you all get feeling better and get the most out of your time together. Keep the wonderful pictures coming.

Thanks for the note, Merle. I’m certain that the Duke and Duchess have been looking for us, but we’ve managed to avoid them so far. Despite the snot and hacking, we’re having a good time. Very relaxing. While Bonnie and Randi relax here this evening, I’m going out for dinner with Mike, at a Turkish restaurant just around the corner. Not sure what I’ll have, but maybe they have pigeon on the menu. I’ll report later.
