Today started out as any other day at a cottage with 5 adults and 2 tiny people: get up, eat, cry, feed, run around, change nappies, etc. Oliver and I checked out the sheep in the field adjacent to the cottage yard.
After all of that, we piled into the Defender for the 45 minute drive to Hastings, as in the 1066 Battle of Hastings. Today it is a popular seaside resort and a fishing port with a beach-based fishing fleet. We walked along the beach to the main pier, with shops, restaurants and a great view of the town, in both directions. Oliver had a blast riding his balance bike along the walkway and all over the pier.
We stopped at one of the restaurants for fish and chips, that we ate on the pier. Very good!
Mike, Jackie, the boys and I took the funicular up the cliff to have a look at Hastings Castle. We didn’t go into the castle, but just enjoyed the view of the town and the beach. Bonnie and Randi browsed through the shops.
Back to The Byre for another good dinner and a relaxing evening.
