Day 7: September 26 – Balstad

I started the day very early:  up at 5:00, met Hans at his house at 5:45 to drive to Balstad, which is about 20 minutes away.  We parked at the school and then walked to the trail leading to Kyillingdalen (Chicken Valley).  The plan was to catch the sunrise here, which involved hiking around Dalsvatnet, a large lake in the valley.  There were some great photo ops of nature to the max and we spent about 4 hours taking it all in.

After returning home, I had a nap, made some lunch and then walked up the street to visit my 89 year old tante Arna.  I saw her last year, when we were here for the Grønbech family reunion, but it was nice to see her again.  She’s had some health challenges, but she was looking really good.  We talked for almost an hour….nothing important, just catching her up on what I’ve been doing and where I’ve been going while here, family, etc.  It was nice.

I spent the rest of the day and evening in catching up on photo processing.  I did go out to see if there were any northern lights appearing, but no such luck.  After getting back, I FaceTimed with Bonnie for a while and then packed it in about 12:30.
