We all had a good sleep-in today!! When I was up during the night, I caught the view of the sun shining on the buildings through the round window in the front door. I was awake enough to grab my camera off the kitchen table and get the shot.
The first thing on the agenda after breakfast was a boat driving lesson for me. Hans Christian had launched the boat at high tide last night, while we were out, so it was ready to go. Driving it is no problem; it’s the docking that’s a challenge. No major problems though, other than a slight bump against another boat, so I passed the test.
Our plan today is to drive to Henningsvær, about 1 hour away. We got Randi into the boat with no problem and then motored over to the dock; however, instead of going to the dodgy dock that we arrived at, we let Bonnie and Randi off at a more stable dock with a wider gangplank with railings on both sides. Matt and I then motored to the other dock, where we tied the boat up for the day.
We were in the car and motoring off at 1:00. I gave the other 3 kind of a running commentary of our photo tour, as we drove along. At one point, we saw a car pulled over and 2 people were outside with their cameras. We were surprised to see 3 fox kits amongst the grass and rocks off the side of the road. Of course, we had to stop so that Matt and I could get some ‘wildlife’ shots….we got some good ones.
We arrived in Henningsvære about 3:15 and went to my favourite restaurant, Haddoc Nord Norse Klatre Skole (Climbing Skol), where we all enjoyed an excellent hamburger.
Bonnie, Randi and Matt spent a few minutes in one of the gift shops, but we couldn’t stay long since we were planning to stop at tante Arna’s house for a visit. We drove non-stop back to Stamsund and arrived at tante Arna’s about 5:30. Lina, Bent-Johnny’s daughter was there with her so we had a quick visit with them before meeting up with Ingbritt and Lillian and their families at the Skjærbrygga restaurant for dinner. All 4 of us enjoyed a bowl of their very tasty fish soup.
Dinner finished, we piled into the boat and made our way back to Tørnholmen. Shortly after returning, Hans Christian and Dagny joined us in the kitchen for some wine and fun conversation.
Another long day and we were in bed by 11:30.
